YOU ARE HERE: Curriculum |
The Nursery and Reception classes follow the Foundation Stage curriculum in which learning is divided into six areas… · Personal, social and emotional development · Communication, language and literacy · Maths · Knowledge and understanding of the world · Creative development · Physical development The children achieve stepping stones which lead to the attainment of early learning goals. Children in KS1 and KS2 follow the national curriculum which consists of three core and 10 foundation subjects.
At Nayland School the timetable is divided up to ensure that each subject is given its correct weighting. A dedicated literacy and maths lesson are taught daily and there are weekly sessions of science. Other curriculum areas may be approached jointly or may be blocked to make best use of time and resources. We are constantly endeavouring to improve our practice and develop our school in order to best teach your child. We do this in a systematic and cyclical way, reviewing, discussing strategically, implementing change and then monitoring and evaluating the effects of that change on children’s learning. We are continually striving to improve the quality of education offered in our school. |
