We will Save energy

We Will REDUCE REUSE RECYCLE
· We will put all our rubbish in the bins
· We will use scrap paper whenever we can
· We will remember to use just one or two paper towels at a time
WE WILL LOOK AFTER THE ENVIRONMENT
- WE WILL LOOK AFTER THE BIRDS BY FEEDING THEM IN THE WINTER AND PUTTING WATER OUT FOR THEM IN THE SUMMER .
- WE WILL LEAVE TREES AND FLOWERS ALONE SO THEY CAN GROW PROPERLY.
- WE WILL RESPECT ALL ANIMALS BY LEAVING BUGS AND INSECTS ALONE.
We have recently achieved our Silver Award for working towards a sustainable lifestyle!
These are the criteria we have met:
1. The school has identified an Action Team which has met on at least four occasions. The Action Team includes a parent and/or governor representative. |

2. The Action Team has completed a formal Environmental Review and has recorded the results. |

3. The Action Team has produced a detailed Action Plan (including timescales and targets) and shared the plan with the rest of the school community. |

4. The Action Team can demonstrate progress towards achieving at least two elements of the Action Plan. |
Recycling of all paper, food waste, and saving energy now underway. |
5. The school can identify progress towards one large-scale project and indicate involvement with two others. ‘Identify progress’ means that the school has an understanding of the project topic and recognises its importance to sustainable development within the school environment and the wider community. |
Large Project: Composting as much food and other waste as possible- Children taking charge of emptying all bins at end of day. Smaller Projects: Energy monitors to be set up this term, looking at saving energy by monitoring use of electricity, closing windows. Environment: looking after birds in school grounds- money from HSA will be used for buying seed, bird baths. |
6. The school has a prominent, designated noticeboard, web pages or newsletter which details Eco-Schools activities. |

7. The school has informed parents and the wider community about the work being undertaken by the school in relation to Eco-Schools. |
Transition Nayland involvement- attended meeting to inform community and asked for help in composting. Grant awarded by Nayland community council to help us set up our composting area. |
8. The school can indicate that some environmental issues have been covered within curriculum work in most year groups. |
Early Years as a Forest School learn to care for plant and animal life within our wood, they look after their own garden, recycling taught within PSE. KS1: caring for the environment and looking after animals. KS2: Summer 2010- new half term topic “Let’s go Green”, Habitats- Wood and Pond. Environmental issues also covered in collective worship throughout the year. |
